The Healthiest Food In The World?

Fish can be one of the healthiest foods in the world. It’s loaded with quality protein, vitamin D, and Omega 3 fatty acids. Omega 3’s are super nutrients for your brain and body.

foodsalmon-865102_1920 copyAll fish is good for you, but fatty fish is the best, loaded with healthy fats and fat soluble vitamins. Fish is the only great source for oral vitamin D.

Vitamin D deficiency creates changes in gut bacteria profile. In other words, healthy gut bacteria needs vitamin D to thrive, if you’re deficient, the good stuff dies off.

Four ounces of salmon has 100% of the recommended daily requirement of Omega 3’s.

Farmed Fish is CRAP! Fish is meant to live off aquatic plants. This is what causes the high Omega 3 profile and healthy source of iodine. Farmed fish has a poor nutrition profile. They lose their Omega 3’s to Omega 6’s.

The decreased nutrition profile of farmed fish is caused from the diet they are provided in captivity. They are most often fed corn and soy, and there’s down sides to both of these ‘foods’.

Corn feeding leads to high Omega 6’s in the fish. We need proper balance of Omega 6 to Omega 3 for good health and to reduce inflammation. When these are out of balance you will see a disruption in endocrine function, and constant inflammatory process which prevents healing. Inflammation is the catalyst to every chronic health challenge.

Soy causes the fish to have excess waste. These same fish are living on top of each other in captivity. The close quarters and fish feces is a breeding ground for bacteria and disease forcing the need for antibiotic use to keep them ‘healthy’. Antibiotic use in our food has been proven to create antibiotic resistance in humans. Soy is a known phytoestrogen that many women and men should avoid.

Fish farming is destroying other sea life. In open sea fish farming, the feed, fish waste, bacteria, parasites & antibiotics flow from the cage to the sea. The long term ramifications are still unknown.

Tuna and Salmon feed off other fish. Anchovies and Herring are being fished to the brink of extinction to feed the fish on farms. Taking so many of the small feeder fish out of the ecosystem is having a large impact on the remaining wildlife by removing their food sources. More pounds of wild fish are used to raise salmon than farmed salmon produced. We’re seeing a decline in whales, dolphins and wild salmon from the reduction in wild fish.

The bottom line is that wild fish is better for you than farmed fish. It’s better for the environments. It’s better for the ecosystem. Eat Wild Fish.

Cheers!
