Should you detox for the New Year?

I’m starting to hear more and more about everyone wanting to detox in January. I think it’s human nature to think a detox will undo all the damage we did from Halloween through the New year.

I’m a fan of detoxing, but it’s important that a detox meets you at the place you’re at. If you’re extremely toxic and have eaten processed foods for most of your life, just removing the sugar and processed foods will be a fairly intense process of cleaning out your system.

For those of you that have been on the journey of eating whole foods for a while, have completed one or two sugar detoxes, then maybe it’s time to step it up a notch by incorporating a mild liver detox with your sugar detox.

I personally like the assistance of supplements, shakes and fiber. My preference for ease is the 21 Day Purification Program by Standard Process or Detox 360 by Apex. I will admit though that I prefer Standard Process because they make the whole thing a lot easier with an app for your phone.

They key to detoxing your liver is eliminating the majority of your protein for 10-15 days, lots of vegetables, healthy fats, and exercise every day. At the end of 15 days, start to incorporate some lean meats. Everything must be organic. Oh yea…. That coffee and alcohol has to go!

Happy detoxing!
